Big Lake

Inspired by the vast and mercurial waters of Lake Superior, this work for flute, clarinet, violin, and cello captures the “Big Lake” in three contrasting movements played without pause. From waves rebounding chaotically against the shoreline, to drifting spring pack ice, to the sudden thrill of a rogue wave, the music evokes a landscape that can shift from serene beauty to restless energy in an instant.
