Quick Overview

Having attended many opera performances in Vienna, a young Zymanowski set about crafting his own one-act opera in hopes of firmly establishing a career as composer. Begun in 1912, completed in 1913 and contracted with publisher Universal Edition, Hagith would have to wait for its premiere until 1922, after the intervening World War. This is a critical edition of the one-act opera, based on the autographs and first editions, with complete editorial notes included. A complete performance is available on YouTube (01:20).
