Forms of Light

for Wind Ensemble

Quick Overview

Three visions: light as a spiritual presence; the absence of light; the lights of an amusement park midway. The multiple colors of the wind ensemble, magnified by ample percussion, lend themselves to meditations on light. The first movement chants and dances, singing of a singular birth. A repeated melodic pattern permeates the obsessions of the slow movement. The finale bounces, whirls about, and plays the blues: carnival rides glowing at dusk.
