Garlands for Steven Stucky

Grammy-winning pianist Gloria Cheng recently presented a series of recitals in memory of STEVEN STUCKY. The life of the “beloved composer and mentor whose brilliant, sensual music and strong advocacy for fellow composers both played a powerful role in American musical life” was celebrated at the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York City on November 11th and the Cooperage Project in Honesdale, PA on November 12th. The program, presented by Weekend of Chamber Music, boasted 32 short premieres in memory of Steven Stucky by friends and former students. Among the 32 musical remembrances were works by fellow Theodore Presser Company and Carl Fischer Music composers, including CHEN YI, DANIEL S. GODFREY, WILLIAM KRAFT, and JAMES MATHESON.
