"Spring Came Dancing" was commissioned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and was first performed by The Thirteen Strings of Ottawa on October 14, 1994. It uses a free variation form to depict musically the poem My Love Told me to Love Thee Alone by Paramahansa Yogananda, one of the pre-eminent spiritual figures of the twentieth century.
