Quick Overview

The Dawn of Darkness is my expression during my time of the pain of loss and heartbreak. It was the first time I experienced such a difficult time in my life. I started to compose this piece late at night until at daybreak the sun started to rise, my room started to have more light but in my mind it was still very dark. No matter how bright the sun light is, if my mind is still very dim, I can?t see any light and hope at all in my vision. I suddenly knew that this was something I would like to express in my composition. I started my journey to discover my mind, inner soul and spirit during the process of writing this piece. The piece starts with low instruments and doesn?t get brighter until almost the half way through the piece. The main music material also keeps rising up but never succeeds until the end of the piece when all the music hangs in the high pitch and stays until the end of the piece.

This piece was graciously commissioned by Dr. Sugree Charoensook for young talented Thai saxophonist, Wisuwat Praksavanich and Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.
