The great composer Erich Künstler leaves an unfinished opera behind at his death. The world is eager to see the score, but his widow, Frau Margot, guards the manuscript jealously.

(Inspired by an actual event related to Mr. Corsaro, by Leonard Bernstein. who had approached Berg’s widow about completing Lulu. Mrs. Berg later informed Bernstein that she had asked her husband on his behalf, but he said he did not want Bernstein to complete the opera. Bernstein concluded that Mrs. Berg had relied on a séance to "contact" her former husband).
