Four young stars of the international flute scene have asked well-known composers to write short and accessible pieces for flute solo. Pieces not only for professionals — enjoyable for both soloists and audience alike.
The resulting collection is an extraordinary array of colours, musical language and technical levels that vary from the immediately playable to the more challenging. In any case, these little pieces of our own time are a venture into brand-new territory, each bringing its own rewards.
These solos are also highly suitable as concert pieces or for competitions.
Our thanks go to flautists Emily Beynon, Mathieu Dufour, Emmanuel Pahud and Kazushi Saito for their help, enthusiasm and support for the FLUTE PROJECT and of course to the composers, Victoria Borisova-Ollas, David Cutler, Roxanna Panufnik, Arvo Pärt, and Jay Schwartz, who so willingly allowed us to put the pen in their hands.
