"The 12 Fantasias for Flute without Bass by Georg Philipp Telemann provides a brilliant window into the style of composition used in the music of the early 18th century. These short pieces were intended for flutists of all performing levels to enjoy making music on their instrument. Now, in this, the 21st century, oboists, bassoonists, double bass players, saxophonists, trombonists and tubists all have been performing these Fantasias and calling them their own. Since the 18th century, the "rules" of playing early music continue to evolve.
