Theodore Presser Company Releases Eight Visions
A New Anthology for Flute and Piano,
Commissioned for and Curated by Marya Martin through Meet the Composer

King of Prussia, PA — Theodore Presser Company announces the publication of Eight Visions (414-41193 • $40.00), a unique collection of commissioned flute solos by eight distinguished composers. This publication is a result of a collaboration between flutist Marya Martin and Meet the Composer, the organization revered for its long-standing dedication to fostering connections between composer and community. Eight Visions contains impressive new works by Ned Rorem, Kenji Bunch, Tania León, Chen Yi, Paul Moravec, Melissa Hui, David Sanford, and Eve Beglarian—all published in a convenient, single anthology.

Marya Martin was inspired to embark on this project by her desire to create a body of new works; particularly struck by it as she sat on annual flute juries at the Manhattan School of Music and noted the limited variety of pieces performed. Martin’s vision of creating a new set of contemporary flute repertoire for the twenty-first century fell perfectly in line with the beliefs of Meet the Composer (MTC), in that it fosters a relationship between player and composer. Through their work together, Martin and MTC have provided the flute world with a striking cross-section of new works from eight dynamic composers of varying styles.

Primarily driven by the belief that interaction with a living composer and his or her music has the power to invigorate and inspire musicians and audiences alike, Meet the Composer supports the creation of new musical work and the engagement of that work with people and communities throughout the United States.
