King of Prussia, PA – We are pleased to announce two new and innovative choral works from Daniel Asia, both for SATB chorus.
The first is Sound Shapes (342-40199 — $2.95), a fascinating trilogy of studies in choral sonority and vocal textures, enriched by pitchpipes – often in relief to the pitchless choral effects rather than their more familiar role in cueing pitches.
The second work is titled The She Set (342-40200 - $2.95) and was inspired by and composed upon four evocative poems of Paul Pines. This choral cycle’s movements are titled "Isis in Despair" (celebrating the myth of Isis and Osiris), "Orpheus" (celebrating Eurydice), the longer third movement title "She," of broader and more abstract celebration, and are capped by the epilogue "Prayer Before Drowning."
Both Sound Shapes and The She Set have been recorded by the BBC Singers, conducted by Odaline de la Martinez (Summit Records DCD550).
