Theodore Presser Company Publishes Lips of Steel for Trombone
Lips of SteelKing of Prussia, PA – Following the success of Lips of Steel for trumpet, Theodore Presser Company now offers this popular method for trombone (444-41029 — $19.95). Addressing the oft-underserved area of endurance and strength in brass playing, pedagogue Alan Raph has adapted trumpet virtuoso David Baldwin’s Lips of Steel method for the trombone. Now trombone players can experience tremendous satisfaction when reaching the end of a piece with strength, resilience, and breath remaining for that last note! In other words, playing with endurance. Baldwin wasn’t born with this ability – he learned it, and Raph’s edition allows trombone players to learn it, too.

David Baldwin is Professor of Trumpet at the University of Minnesota School of Music in Minneapolis. He is an active soloist, ensemble player, composer, arranger and teacher. He has over 100 arrangements and compositions with many leading publishers and has received a Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and MM, MMA, and DMA degrees from Yale University. He is also founding Secretary and a past member of the Board of Directors of the International Trumpet Guild. Dr. Baldwin's teachers include Robert Nagel, Raymond Crisara, William Vacchiano, Bernard Adelstein, Charles Gorham and Eric Duro.
