A reception was held by the American Academy of Arts and Letters in January at the New York home of John Corigliano
and Mark Adamo to honor James Matheson, who was recently named as the next recipient of the coveted
Charles Ives Living Award. The Award will be officially presented at the Academy’s annual ceremony in May,
and the term of the Award begins in summer, 2012. Matheson (center) is pictured at the reception with his
former teachers, Steven Stucky (l, Cornell University) and Gerald Levinson (r, Swarthmore College); and also
joined by Sonya Kim (President of Theodore Presser Company, Ezra Laderman, and Daniel Dorff.
At the Conductors Guild Conference in Chicago in January: Michael Gilbertson,
whose Wingspan was featured at a session, and Shulamit Ran with Emily Freeman Brown,
who moderated a panel which included Ms. Ran.

Visiting the Chamber Music America conference in New York : Victoria Bond, Daniel Godfrey, and Stacy Garrop,
whose new work Helios was presented in a performance showcase by Gaudete Brass.
